Cassandra Blankenship

Cassandra Haught Blankenship, 47, of Catlettsburg, Ky., died Jan. 4, 2018, at home, where she was under hospice care for cancer. She grew up at Lake Chaweva west of Charleston and graduated from St. Albans High School.She attended Ashland Community College. Surviving are her husband, Woodrow; son, Jonathan; brothers, Joel and Jake Haught, both of Lake Chaweva, and Jeb Haught of San Diego, Calif.; biological mother, Ruth Ann Sloan of Florida; adoptive father, Gazette-Mail Editor Emeritus James. A. Haught. She was preceded in death by her adoptive mother, Nancy Haught of Lake Chaweva. Her body has been cremated by Tri-State Cremation Society, which presents her obituary on its website and records comments by friends.The family will hold a private ceremony to sprinkle her ashes in hills at Lake Chaweva.
