Ethel Jean Evans, aged 87, was welcomed into heaven by a host of loving family and friends on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Jean was the daughter of the late Willard Ogle and Shirley S. Morris Tufts of Ironton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Evans, a son, Christopher B. Evans, and 10 siblings. Jean is survived by two sisters, Alice (Charles) Meyers of Akron, Ohio, and Elizabeth (Gene) Williams, of Hollins, VA. Her beloved children are William E. (Kathleen) Evans, Jr. M.D. of Exeter, NH, Steven T. (Guada) Evans of Statesville, NC, Brenda (Mike) Perry and Karen (Phillip) Collier, of Kenova, WV. Jean is leaving behind 14 grandchildren: William E. Evans, III, and Nicholas L. Evans, Stefany (Mark) Reyburn, Bianca (Mark) Cooper, Beau Evans, Ryan (Ivonne) Evans, Christopher (Bridgette) Perry, David (Sheena) Perry, Ashley (Tiffany) Crabtree, Adam E. E. (Wei Jai) Collier, Samantha Collier, Drew A. Evans, Mitchell Orr, Michael D. Evans. Jean was an owner of Evaroni’s Pizza in Kenova. Evaroni’s was opened by Jean’s co-owner husband, Bill, in 1968, and remains in Kenova as a thriving, flourishing, ongoing Evans family operated restaurant, successfully managed by Jean and Bill’s daughter, Karen Collier, and with the skilled management contribution of Karen’s son, Jean’s grandson, Adam Collier. Jean loved bowling, playing Canasta and Bridge, and was an exceptionally loving and devoted grandparent to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness and generosity to friends, acquaintances, and her devoted attention to customers at her restaurant. Jean would have wanted to especially thank her devoted niece, Diane Bright, and, her son-in-law, Phillip Collier, for their frequent visits and devotion to her during her long illness.The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff, nurses and aides at Madison Park who have cared for Jean the past two years and to Hospice, who helped in Jean’s care in the final weeks.
