Ilene Vera Powell Ray

Ilene V. Powell Ray, 92, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord, on March 24, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and friends at the Heartland of Riverview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Ilene was born on April 13, 1925 in Kenova, W.Va. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and companion of over 60 years, Donald M. Ray; loving parents Clayton Powell, Sr. and Nellie Workman Powell; one sister, Wilma Riggs; and one brother, Clayton Powell, Jr. Surviving her are one brother Donald Powell (Dale); two sons, Ronnie Ray and Pete Ray (Lowvella) of Huntington, W.Va.; four grandchildren. Robin Hollowell of Peoria, Ariz., Kevin Ray of Phoenix, Ariz., Nicole Chute (Jason) of Huntington, W.Va., and Natalie Zigmond (Kenny) of Winfield, W.Va.; nine great grandchildren, Christopher and Stephen Hollowell, Korbin and Kaelin Ray, Benjamin, Ella, and Avery Chute, Kenlie and Kallie Zigmond. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Thomas Nolan on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington, W.Va.
