Ruth Jarrell, 92, of Fort Scott, Kansas, formerly of Huntington, passed away December 27, 2012 at Fort Scott Manor, Fort Scott, KS. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Friday at the Jarrell Family Cemetery, Hode, Kentucky. Burial will follow. She was born March 29, 1920 in Hode, KY a daughter of the late William and Matilda Isabel Simpkins Mollett. She was also preceded in death by her late husband Rev. Arthur Jarrell and four brothers and five sisters. Ruth and Arthur lived in Huntington until 1953 when they moved to Overland Park, Kansas. After graduating from the Kansas City College and Bible School she worked a year as a teacher in the Kansas City, KS grade school. In 1958 they were sent to Cayman Brac British West Indies as missionaries by the Church of God Holiness. After serving seven years there they returned to Kansas and pastored churches in Yates Center and Arkansas City. After her husband’s death in 1976, Ruth served four years as a missionary and teacher in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In 1981 she moved to Fort Scott where she worked part time at the Medicalodge for 12 years. Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as her friends and church family at the Clarksburg Church of God Holiness. Friends may call from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 to go to the cemetery.
