Brandon Daniel Akers, 23, passed away on May 18, 2026. Born on February 7, 2003 in Huntington, WV, son of Susan (Sherk) Terry and Danny Akers. Brandon was a kind, thoughtful, and strong-willed soul whose presence brought love and laughter to those around him.

Brandon accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at River Cities Community Church as an outward expression of his faith. He received his education from Cabell Midland High School, where he completed dual credit courses through Marshall University. He found his passion for sports through the Upward Sports Program. He later dedicated time to Barboursville Little League as well as the Patriots Baseball Organization as an all-star player. Immediately following HS, he was accepted into The University of Kentucky. He carried a spirit that was quite adventurous, with a passion for mountain biking, snowboarding, and fishing. More than anything, Brandon enjoyed socializing with others. “He never met a stranger. Every person in the world, to him, was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.” -Melanie Shawn. His unforgettable personality left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though his time here was far too short, Brandon’s memory will continue to live on. Survivors include his grandfather, Paul V. Akers Sr., grandmother, Shirley Sherk, his special great-aunt, Linda Maynard, and step-father, Jeff Terry. Additional survivors include brothers, Paul V. Akers II and Justin Terry, and sister, Jessica Terry. He was loved by his uncles, aunts, and his many cousins. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfather Daniel Sherk, grandmother Dorris Akers, and cousin Kevin Sherk. He will be cherished as a beautiful son, family member, and friend whose life touched many.

The visitation will be held at Reger Funeral Home & Chapel on Friday, May 22 from 12:00-2:00pm with the funeral following at 2:00pm. Burial services will be at Spring Hill Cemetery immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Ronald McDonald house or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
