Carlos Denver Marcum

CARLOS DENVER MARCUM, SR., 79, of Prichard, W.Va., husband of 62 years to Catherine Lowe Marcum, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. He was born on May 31, 1932, in Whitman, W.Va., a son of the late John Henry and Della Ruth Queen Marcum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother C.J. Marcum. He is survived by daughters Tina (William) Barrett and Dottie Gould, all of Huntington; son Carlos (Patricia) Marcum, Jr., of Proctorville, Ohio; sister Joan (Leo) Nored of Placerville, Calif.; grandchildren Chuck Gould, Olivia Barrett and Leigha Barrett; niece Donna Whisler of Federal Way, Wash.; special cousins Linda and Eugene Parsons and Ben and Lauren Marcum. Mr. Marcum proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a long-time employee of The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington. There will be no service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in Mr. Marcum's honor to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Huntington. Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home is assisting the family.
