Carolyn Skean, 80, of Kenova, WV, was called home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.

Born on July 28, 1945, in Kenova, WV, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Frank and Betty Caldwell.

She is survived by her son, Gary Skean (Patricia); and her daughters, Tammie McVay (Randy) and Amy Frazier (Todd). She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Tessa Hanshaw (Jarred), Breanna McVay, Lexie Brewer (Austin), Jacob Skean, and Addy Kiser (Grant); and a loving great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren: Colton Hanshaw, Harper Hanshaw, Alizabeth Brewer, Amzie Brewer, and Graham Kiser.

Carolyn is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Frank Caldwell (Mary Ann), Denver Caldwell, Larry Caldwell (Barb), and Judy Hibner (Roger). Family meant everything to her, and she maintained close relationships with her extended family throughout her life.

A woman of deep faith, Carolyn walked closely with the Lord, trusting Him through life’s blessings and challenges. She was often heard saying, “God is my best friend.”

Carolyn had a strong love for others and was known for her kind, caring, and outgoing spirit. She made countless friends in her community and truly never met a stranger.

She was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School and was proudly employed at Harts/Big Bear Department Store in Ceredo for over 25 years, where she devoted herself to her work, customers, and co-workers.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Reger Funeral Home in Ceredo, WV, with Brother Austin Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova, WV. Visitation will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
