Listen to Obituary

Dana Glen Williamson, 59, of Raceland, Kentucky, entered heavenly rest with the Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Born on October 10, 1966, in Huntington, West Virginia, Dana was deeply devoted to his family, his community, and the outdoors. He was the beloved husband of Dawna Michele Johnson Williamson, and together they built a life centered on love, adventure, service, and family. His wife Dawna and son Austin were his greatest joy.

Dana was preceded in death by his mother, Louvonna Jean “Jeanie” Williamson in 2005, and his father, Glen Williamson in 2018.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Dawna Michele Johnson Williamson; his son, Austin; his brothers, Kevin Williamson (Lorna), and Michael Williamson (Stephanie); his sister, Angie Whitmore (David); his aunt, June; his uncles, Terry, Roger, and Rayburn; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Dana was a member of Minerva Lodge No. 13 A.F & A.M. in Barboursville, West Virginia, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 98.

He was happiest outdoors, enjoying fishing at his cabin in Canaan Valley, WV, and hunting at his cabin in Calhoun County, WV. Always pushing through his pain, he remained active in several professional fishing organizations and was a member of the Mercury Pro Team and Kentucky Bass Nation. There was never a shortage of adventure when Dana was involved, and he took great joy in spending time with his nieces and nephews. Dana also enjoyed time with his friends, and their many adventures hunting, fishing and just being together.

As a further reflection of his commitment and love for his community, Dana was a former mayor of Raceland. Dana together with his wife founded the Raceland Schools Archery Program in Raceland, Kentucky, and volunteered for several years at Wolf Pen Woods Pioneer Village in Rush, Kentucky. He loved sharing his passion for outdoor adventures with the youth in his life.

Dana lived by the belief that a man’s word is his bond. He was known for his honesty, integrity, and authenticity, and he had a way of making everyone feel special and valued. He also had a deep commitment to patriotism; he loved his country, cherished the freedoms it stands for, and held strong to the values he believed in.

Dana will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his unwavering character, his love for family, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
