Derek Shane Mullins of South Point, OH, passed away at the Emogne Dolin Jones Hospice of Huntington, WV, May 22, 2026. His passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who loved him. Derek always had a smile and a hug ready for friends and family. He is the beloved son of Lee R. and Shelia F.(Houck) Mullins II. Throughout his life, Derek was kind, charismatic, generous and had a compassionate spirit that touched many.Derek was preceded in death by his father, Lee R. Mullins II, his grandparents, Lee R. and Virginia Mullins and Ora and Juanita Mae Houck, loved Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He is survived by his mother, Shelia F. (Houck) Mullins, brothers, Lee R. Mullins Ill and his wife Elizabeth, and Greg Mullins and his wife Brenda, two nephews, Michael Mullins and his wife Fiona, and Mitchell Mullins and his wife Megan, and a niece, Brittany Mullins. He also leaves behind many cousins and a host of friends who loved Derek for his kind spirit and loving nature.Derek was a graduate of South Point High and Collins Career Technical Center Class of 1999. He enjoyed playing many sports such as soccer, baseball and wrestling in school. Derek worked as a welder, before his accident that left him with many health issues. He was a fan of pro wrestling and enjoyed telling the announcers how wrong they were. Derek was a glass half full kind of guy, who never met a stranger and his memory will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.Above all, Derek will be remembered for his laughter, his strength facing the many health challenges he had, for his love of family and friends, his presence filled people with joy and he will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A memorial service will be held at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, WV., on May 26, 2026 at 12:30 pm. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV.
