Earsten Spaulding

Earsten Spaulding, 77, of Prichard, WV, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Spaulding; mother, Betty June Shrader; brother, Ernie L. Spaulding; sisters, Mary Lou Spaulding, Paula K. Spaulding, and Joanna D. Farmer, and son-in-law, William Patrick Kirk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth Spaulding; his daughter, Sherri Lynn Kirk, of Prichard, WV; his son, Earsten Hayes Spaulding (Kimberly), of Prichard, WV; grandchildren, Karen Lynn Johnson, Craig David Spaulding, Andrew Hayes Spaulding, and Sarah Elizabeth Kirk; and great grandchild, Porter Wade Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters, Fannie Belle Muncy, of Chapmanville, WV, and Patricia Shrader, of Maryland, and a host of in-laws and extended family.

Earsten, retired as a heavy equipment operator from coal mining, was also an accomplished carpenter and furniture maker, and was an honorably discharged and proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a highly trained electronic repair technician. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was known for his wry sense of humor and his willingness to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

He will be greatly missed by his loving widow, close knit family and his many, many friends and relatives.

The family would like to express their affection, gratitude and love to all the friends, neighbors, family and medical professionals for all of their support and help during Earsten’s time of illness.

Per his request, the family will be holding only a private memorial service. Accordingly, in lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you consider making a contribution in his memory to the church or charity of your choice.
