Janice Lobo

Janice Pendergrass Lobo, 57, of Huntington, WV passed peacefully on Friday, May 15th with loving family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00pm at Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, WV. Family and friends may call from 12:00pm – 2:00pm.

Janice was born May 29th, 1968, in Huntington, WV to the late Jaldir Lobo M.D. and Patsy “Pat” Pendergrass. She grew up in Huntington and attended St. Joseph Catholic School with her four siblings, Judy, Jim, Jenny, and Jeff, whom she loved dearly. There was never a dull moment in the Lobo home on Clinton Place. Whether she was tanning by the pool on the back patio, filling the basement with friends, watching scary movies in the den, pranking her siblings, or blasting records at top volume with her little brother Jeff, Janice’s childhood was vibrant and full of laughter – a reflection of the person she grew up to be. Even into adulthood, Janice never lost her free-spirited nature and fierce independence. She had a long career driving for UPS where she spent many years creating lasting friendships with those on her route. Janice never knew a stranger and would truly give you the shirt off her back. Making others laugh with her quick-wit and unique humor was one of her many gifts that she shared with those lucky enough to know her, as it had the special power of creating levity in difficult times and sustaining genuine fun in all the moments in between. When she wasn’t driving her “Big Brown Truck,” she loved singing and dancing to music, securing her next concert tickets, speed walking in the park, and completing her newspaper crossword puzzles. But most importantly, she loved and prioritized her girls and family before anything else. Janice was a devoted mother, aunt, sister, and friend who is loved by all who know her and will be missed greatly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jaldir and Patsy “Pat” Lobo; and her younger brother, Jeffery Lobo. Survivors include her daughters, Kasey Lobo and Leah Keyes; her siblings, Judy Berger of Louisville, KY, Jim (Kathy) Lobo, Jenny (Craig) Edwards all of Huntington; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Nick) Buckman, Jeremy Ferry, Brian Ferry, Emily Ferry, and Max Berger, Cody (Ashley) Lobo, Niki Lobo (John Hoskins), Danielle Lobo (Stacy Lewis), Jimmy Lobo, Rachel (Brian) Bellomy, Ben Edwards, Hannah Edwards (CJ Jenkins), Adriana Lobo; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
