John David Burns

John D. Burns, 74, of Huntington WV, suddenly passed away at home on Saturday, August 2, 2025. John was born in June of 1951 to the late Arminta "Alice" and James "Matt" Burns and raised in Lincoln County WV. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his only sibling, James Kenneth Burns of Lincoln County; his beloved wife of 31 years, Lenda Burns, along with a host of deeply missed Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. For a few decades John was happily employed with Pinkerton Security before moving on to work Valet at Cabell Huntington Hospital until he retired. After retirement John spent his days gardening, going to Gene Watson concerts and touring distilleries with Lenda. He also enjoyed spending his evening on the front porch chatting with neighbors and friends while he sipped on his favorite bourbon or whiskey. While John is reuniting with loved ones gone before him, sadly he leaves behind two children, a daughter, Barbie Smith (Hobie); a son, Micheal Miller (Angie); two wonderful grandchildren, Alix and Ava Miller whom he loved with his whole heart; two fur babies, which includes his husky, Horse and his little shadow, Gizmo. John also leaves behind other family members and friends that he loved dearly, including Ashley Marable, Cary Mchale and dearest best friend, Julian Coleman. John was one of a kind, a good guy and friend, a fantastic and devoted husband, loving dad and wonderful grandpa. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Friends may call from 11 am until service time on Saturday at Reger Funeral Home.
