Johnny Ray Carter, aged 43, of Huntington, West Virginia, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Born on May 13, 1982, in Huntington, Johnny was the cherished son of the late John and Diana Burns Carter.

A true soul of the outdoors, Johnny found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was casting a line while fishing or tending to the grass that he so skillfully transformed into his livelihood. His hands were never still, often engaged in bringing life back to automobiles and motorcycles, a testament to his boundless curiosity and love for tinkering.

Yet, above all, Johnny’s heart belonged to his beloved children. He leaves behind his devoted longtime girlfriend, Michelle Byers; his daughters, Destanee (Dustin) Carter Harmon and Alexis Grace Carter; and a loving circle of family including his mother-in-law, Theresa Evans; brother, Randy Carter; uncle, Keith Carter; his special cousin Anthony Carter; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Though no formal services will be held, Johnny’s spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the memories held dear by those who knew him. The Reger Funeral Home in Huntington is honored to assist the family during this time.

Johnny Ray Carter’s legacy is one of quiet strength, devotion, and the enduring love of a family man whose presence will be deeply missed.
