Keith Edward "Ed" Payton

KEITH EDWARD "ED" PAYTON, 54, of Kenova, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 10, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m., at Reger Funeral Home & Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Greg Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Section of Dock’s Creek Cemetery. He was born Nov. 23, 1970 in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Ramon Ray Payton and Alice Faye (Hatten) Payton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dallas and Halcy Payton; his maternal grandparents, Scott and Reba Hatten; an aunt, Roberta Nimmo; and three uncles, Howard Hatten, Teddy Wallace and Michael Hassie. He is survived by two brothers, Randy and Matthew; two sisters, Nikki and Melissa; three aunts, Teresa (Willard) Horn of Kenova, Rita Wallace of Culloden, W.Va. and Clara Hassie of Milton, W.Va.; an uncle, Mike Nimmo of Huntington; several cousins and a number of friends. He was a 1989 graduate of Buffalo (Wayne) High School. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, where he made numerous friends during his career as a rural route carrier in both Kenova and Winfield, W.Va. He also maintained friendships with many of his former co-workers at Copley's Market in Kenova and Westmoreland Foodland. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff in the Intermediate Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Care units at SMMC, who provided Ed with great care and compassion in the final days of his life.
