Lawrence was born March 2, 1953 in Huntington, Indiana to Lawrence Martin Smith and Eliza Elizabeth Saverance. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Lawrence is survived by 1 sister in Ohio, 3 sons in Huntington, Indiana and 1 brother in Huntington, Indiana. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews across the United States.
