Mary Mitchell Dodson

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dodson (née Mitchell), age 97, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Huntington, West Virginia.  Born on November 7, 1927, in Roanoke, West Virginia, Mary lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, creativity, and devotion to her family. She was a member of the Baptist faith and carried her beliefs with quiet strength throughout her years.  Mary was a gifted paint artist and writer, expressing herself through peaceful canvases and thoughtful words. Her creative spirit and boundless faith enriched not only her own life but the lives of those around her. Whether through brushstrokes or keystrokes, she found beauty in the world and shared it generously.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James T. Dodson, who passed away in 2019; and by her son, Timothy J. Dodson, who passed away in 2011.  Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharon D. Balmforth; her son, James S. Dodson, her sister Matilda H. Fowler, their spouses, and many other family members and friends.  Her legacy lives on through the memories held by those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all whose lives she touched.
