SANDRA LEE EARL PINSON, 90, of Huntington, W.Va., died 4.17.2026. She was born Jan. 26, 1936, in Huntington, where she was proud to have lived her entire life in the Westmoreland neighborhood. Sandra was known for her vivacious personality and her great passion for those she loved. She enjoyed tracing her ancestry back to the 1600s in the British Isles and telling stories about the pioneering past. Sandra was a member of Vinson Memorial Christian Church, as were her parents and grandparents. The church was an anchor for Sandra as the family celebrated weddings, anniversaries and other milestones there. She graduated from Vinson High School in 1953, where she was a cheerleader and majorette, participating in All-State bands for seven years. Along with founding the Quilt Blockers at the church, Sandra founded and helped spearhead Vinson’s school-wide class reunions. In 1952, she appeared on the Ted Mack Show, performing pantomime, and later was a contestant on The Price is Right. Sandra married Wallace J Pinson in 1955 and raised their two children in the Vinson community. Both Sandra and Wally were recognized by Gov. Arch Moore as Distinguished West Virginians. An elder at Vinson Memorial Christian Church, Sandra served as the church’s Board Chair, the first woman to do so. She was also the first woman elected as a member and later president of the Wayne County Board of Education. She served on the Wayne County Health Department Board and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District Board and was Republican Committeewoman since 1960. She was proud to be a member of the Phoenix. Growing up during World War II, Sandra and her mother lived with her grandparents, Silvia and Lyman Custer Cobb. Sandra was preceded in death by Silvia and Lyman, along with her parents, Eloise and Ellis Smith, her husband, Wallace, and her son, Leskie J Pinson. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Pinson Milstead, Lisa’s husband Jay, and children Jayson, Alexandra and Morgan; and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bevins Pinson and children Cayley and Turner. She was “Nina” to her 15 beloved great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Debbie Short, Sandra’s devoted helpmate and dear friend for decades. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bob McGlone at 3pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will follow on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10am in Woodmere Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1pm until service time on Sunday at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
