Shirley Ann Smith Thompson
Born November 12, 1939, in Huntington WV, the daughter of Henry Smith and Verta Akers Smith Damron and died, age 86, November 15, 2025, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.
She was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, Betty Lou Smith Hutchinson, and one brother, Bobby Franklin Smith. She is survived by one son, Dan Thompson (Terri), and one daughter, Sherry Burns Plybon (Bill); 4 granddaughters, Rachel Sue Thompson, Jessica Lynne Burns Scott (Brad), Kathryn Bea Thompson, and Marisa Lea Thompson Carpenter (Micah); one grandson, Jon Russell Burns (Nikki); and 4 great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Burns, Abylen Scott, Braylen Scott, and Lincoln Carpenter.
Shirley was a member of Grace Gospel Church, formerly sang in the choir, attended one of the Ladies Bible classes and was in the Grace Ladies prayer group. She volunteered for many years in the office of Grace Christian School. Shirley retired from Consumers Gas Utility Company in Huntington WV, as a computer operator, and was formerly employed at Huntington Trust and Savings Bank in the General Ledger department. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and visits from her grandchildren during her retirement.
A service will be at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, on November 25, 2025 at noon, with public visitation 1 ½ hours prior to the service.
