Sue Carol Lakin Stanley – January 30, 1934 – May 16, 2025Sue Carol Lakin Stanley, 91, of Cincinnati, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on May 16, 2025, following complications from a fall. Sue was born January 30, 1934, the daughter of the late James and Lyda Frazier Lakin of Fort Gay, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Blanche Wellman, Virgie Pelfrey, Barbara Wright and Mary Frasher; her brothers Richard and Lawrence Lakin; and her son, James David Stanley. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Paul Jay Stanley, and their children: Kari Oatts (Tom) of Braselton, Georgia; Kevin Stanley (Lee Ann) of Cincinnati; and Todd Stanley (Kelli) of Cincinnati. She was a beloved Mamaw to Ashleigh Oatts of Athens, Georgia; Jay Oatts (Tess) of Chamblee, Georgia; Jake Stanley of Athens, Georgia; Maggie Stanley (Harlie) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Justin Stanley and Josh Stanley of Cincinnati; as well as a cherished great-grandmother to Adam and Melody Oatts. She is also survived by a wealth of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and their children. She graduated from Fort Gay High School and the Huntington College of Business followed by tenures working for Owens-Illinois and Princeton High School. She was a devoted member of Tri-County Baptist Church in Cincinnati and West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. During her grand life, Sue never met a stranger, possessing a unique ability to strike up conversation with any person she encountered. She loved giraffes, floating in her pool, playing golf on a sunny day and Rummikub on a rainy one, and humming sweet songs in the kitchen as she made her famous pizzas and sweet treats. Most importantly, she filled every room she entered with warmth and love for all and served as a source of strength and guidance when needed the most. Visitation will be at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, West Virginia on Thursday, May 22 from 10-11 a.m., followed by funeral services the same day at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ferguson Cemetery in Fort Gay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, whose care of Sue in her final days was immensely appreciated by her entire family.
