Verba Loretta Smith (Pullen)
December 5, 1944 – November 28, 2025

Verba Loretta “Vee” Smith passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. She was born in Lincoln County, West Virginia, on December 5, 1944, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Susan Nida Pullen.

She wa preceded in death by her parents and by her six siblings, Anna Marie Pullen Hall, Bobby Nello, Guy Franklin, Winford Henson, Russell Laverne and Reba Lou.


Verba was a proud graduate of Hamlin High School in Hamlin, West Virginia, Class of 1962.

She was previously married to David Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Chapman, and son-in-law, Eric Chapman of Huntington; and by her three sons, Michael, Darren, and Charles Smith, also of Huntington.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose steady presence and unconditional love will be deeply missed.

Verba leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Verba enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and connecting with friends and family through Facebook. Her warmth, strength, and kindness touched all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.

May her soul find eternal rest in the loving presence of the Lord, and may her family find comfort in knowing she is at peace in her heavenly home.
