Vernon Junior Casey

Vernon “Junior” Casey of Lavalette, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior, July 30th, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years and his beloved children.

Junior was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to so many too numerous to count; and a patriot serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. But above all, he was a faithful and obedient servant of Christ; a truly humble man who loved the Lord. For over 48 years and nearly 375 churches, Junior shared the love of God through song by playing his guitar, harmonica and singing with The Casey Family. He also spent hours everyday studying his bible and commentaries to prove himself worthy to be a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years.

Waiting to meet him in Heaven is his loving wife, Alice; his three children, Craig (Lisa), Bruce (Anndrea) and Angel (Eddie); and, his loving brother, Harvey. He was the beloved Pa, Pa-Paw and Pops to Jarrod, Justin, Gabriel, Elijah, Tristan, Emma, Robert, Montana, C.J., Shannon, Casey and Caleb; and prided himself as being “Pa-Paw the Terrible” with his playful games. He also enjoyed the title of Great-Grandpa to his beloved grandchildren’s babies.

Junior was a true family man, simple and honest. Adored by his family, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Always a man with a smile and a twinkle in his eye.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to two very special family members who sacrificed their time to be with the family during his short illness, Greg and Marcia Weaver; and, to the Neuro Trauma and NTICU staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their unwavering care and support.

His Homecoming will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, WV. Burial will follow at Mays Chapel Cemetery, Mays Branch Road, Lavalette, WV.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, WV.
