William “Blair” Adkins, 95, “the last of the Mohicans” went to his heavenly home on June 27, 2025, after a brief stay at Legacy Riverview Nursing Home, Sout Point, OH.
He was born on August 11, 1929 in Huntington, WV.
He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War; he was stationed in Greenland and at various military bases across the US.
He is survived by his devoted companion and special friend, Carolyn Adkins, and her daughters, Sue, Lorie and Laura, who stood by him throughout the years and lovingly considered him family. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jeff and Garnet Adkins, his beloved brother and sister, ralph Gordon Adkins and Mildred Adkins Hazelett, nephew, Robert Hazelett and great niece, Jennifer Oldaker Hall.
Uncle Blair lived a humble and grateful lie, never taking a single blessing for granted. He was the oldest and longest living resident at Westview Manor, where he lived for 25 years. He was also known for his wonderful storytelling, his fondness for quoting short poems, and his love of old movies and conversations about historical events.
A man of deep faith, Blair loved the Lord and rarely missed an opportunity to share the message of Jesus with others. His kind spirit, wisdom, and joyful heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. “Que Sera Sera”
